The Great tit
In the past year a couple of great tits has built a nest in a nestbox  near to our house. There where 11 eggs placed! Because of a camera placed inside, we were able to follow everything from the beginning till the end , wich was very special!
Everything was followed on the internet
The camera is currently offline but there are still clips to watch the highlights.
Next year in early spring, the camera will  be back online and  we hope we get a new couple of Great tits!

Description

The great tit is one of the most common and most conspicuous birds in the Netherlands. The bird is one of the most famous Dutch birds because the bird is not shy and in winter  on regularly feed tables to be found. In forests and vegetated hills he appears often. The male can be distinguished from the female by the black stripe on the abdomen wich is much wider.

The Great tit is a hole-breeder and  builds other nests in tree cavities and nest boxes. Because of their short lifetime the Great tit breed many eggs.
Sometimes the Great tit leaves her nest and eggs or young birds to start again in better conditions and at another location.

The Great tit eats insects, seeds and nuts, specially tree seeds in the autumn and winter, mostly from the ground.
The lifespan is 2-3 years.
